Turning Interest Into Action

The VoiceUP Initiative was created in February 2020 out of a dire need for our youth to be exposed to and have access to creative outlets, tutoring services and much needed one on one attention. This is done by answering the call of inclusivity and by showing our youth that they matter.

The youth of the inner city often feel overlooked and ignored. Their grievances and requests often go unnoticed and they are told to stop complaining or are given a speech about how they are too young to have the problems and issues that they are suffering with. Many of them are placed in positions of adulthood because of circumstances beyond their control. They want, need, and deserve an outlet. They need a place where they can not only build their writing and communication skills but can express themselves without being criticized or judged for their feelings. In a city riddled with crime, our main focus is on keeping as many teenagers as possible off the streets and in a productive environment where they can nurture their creative abilities.

        The mission of the VoiceUP Initiative: 

 To open the doors of unlimited possibilities by enhancing the creativity and communication skills of each student and to let them know that their brain is great and can create great things. To encourage the leadership and growth of inner city youth artistically as well as spiritually through one on one communication and group activities. To provide educational assistance and support to those in need. To motivate inspire, and cultivate successful, goal-driven youth on their journey to adulthood.
